Below is a “fictional” story, yes fictional in double-quotes. Can you relate?
In 2012, Bob stumbled upon an article about Bitcoin while browsing the internet. Intrigued, he read more and more about it but was hesitant to invest. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that it was too good to be true.
Years passed, and Bob continued to keep an eye on the crypto world. He read blogs, watched videos, and followed Twitter personalities. Despite the rollercoaster ride of the crypto market, his curiosity never wavered.
In 2023, Bob stumbled upon a tweet that piqued his interest. It was from a Bitcoin OG, who he followed for years. The tweet announced the creation of Taproot Wizards, a series of NFTs on the Bitcoin network called Ordinals. They were a bit like NFTs on Ethereum, but more permanent. Bob was never someone who had a big problem with Ethereum, but he always felt a bigger pull toward Bitcoin.
There would only ever be 2121 Taproot Wizards, and the only way to earn a spot in the exclusive OG community was to complete a series of tasks in the Taproot Wizards School.
Bob was determined to earn a whitelisting spot. He enrolled in the school and began to complete the tasks with gusto.
The first task was to set up a Lightning wallet and create a small payment to the Bitcoin foundation, which he did with ease. The second task was to link his Twitter and Discord accounts and add a small wizard to the profile.
The third task was to take a shower, and Bob was confused. He thought that this must be a trick. But no, the instructions were clear: take a shower in a wizard outfit and record it. He did so and submitted it with a bit of embarrassment.
As the weeks passed, Bob completed all the tasks, but he couldn’t shake off the feeling that he might not have done enough. He knew that there were now thousands of people competing for the coveted whitelisting spot, and he didn’t want his efforts to go to waste.
Finally, the day of reckoning arrived. Bob nervously checked his inbox, hoping for a message from the Taproot Wizards School. The message was there, and he could hardly believe his eyes. He had earned a whitelisting spot!
Bob was ecstatic. He felt like he had finally accomplished something meaningful in the crypto world. He had missed out on the early days of Bitcoin, but now he was part of an exclusive group of OGs.
He proudly displayed his Taproot Wizard NFT on his wallet and watched as the Bitcoin price rose higher and higher. He felt like he was a part of something special, a community that was always learning, always growing, and always having fun:
What Bob found most refreshing about the Taproot Wizards community was that it wasn’t toxic and dismissive maximalism. The community was diverse, with people from all walks of life, all united by their love of Bitcoin and their desire to learn more.
Bob made new wizard friends, and they bonded over their shared experiences of completing the tasks and earning their whitelisting spots. They laughed and joked, and Bob felt like he had found his tribe.
As the years passed, Bob watched as the crypto world continued to evolve. He saw new coins come and go, but Bitcoin remained strong. And he knew that he had made the right choice in sticking with it, even when he was hesitant to invest.
He continued to learn and grow with the Taproot Wizards community, and he felt like he was part of something bigger than himself. He had found a sense of belonging that he had never felt before, and it was all thanks to Bitcoin and Taproot Wizards.
Today, Bob’s grandmother is running a Lightning node and accepting payments for her knitting.
Best Wishes
